Things to do when manicuring your nails..
I love nothing more than once a week sitting down and giving myself a manicure. . . (Even though I do it all week for other people) it's good to give yourself a little pampering, so here's a little step by step guide of how to keep your nails smudge free and sparkly!
Always make sure you set out your essentials first I.e nail file and clippers, cuticle removers, base, colour and top coat, any quick drying formula you may want to use.. if you haven't I have a little tip to share.
Firstly apply your cuticle remover, this will give the cuticles time to soften. Then we move onto cutting and filing your nails into your desired shape.. stilettos are still soooo popular at the moment, but for me I like mine sqround.. squared with a rounded edge (I already have long E.T fingers, so I tend to steer clear of stiletto or oval as it will accentuate the fingers) also when filing a natural nail always try to keep the file going the same way as running it back and forth will cause your nails to be weaker and split easier.
We can now move on to the cuticle.. with an orange wood stick gently push back the skin, only nip with a cuticle tool if necessary as the more you nip away it will encourage the regrowth, so only do this if you have loose hangnails or skin.
After you have done all that just give your hands a wash over with a little cold water, this will get rid of any dust and debris.
I would then buff my nails over ever so slightly with a very soft buffing block, just enough to remove the shine. This will then help your nail varnish to stay put for longer.
Apply your base, colour and top layers, waiting at least 5 minutes in between coats.. if you can wait longer in between coats it's going to help as it will overall dry quicker. If you cap your free edge (the tip of the nail) with nail polish this helps to seal in a polish better.
Once all this is done I give my nails another 10 minutes then I spray them with quick dry.. if you don't have any then id leave them about 15/20 minutes and then place them in a sink of cold water.. obviously most people prefer the first option but this will just harden your nails a little quicker.
And wallah your nails are done and perfect and Cindarella shall go to the ball.
