A trip to Paris

So this is it, our final city break of the year. We've had a fabulous few months where we headed to Rome for a long weekend, you can read about that here. Then in August we went to Amsterdam for a couple of days, we've headed down to London on the odd occasion and now we're off to Paris. This year really has been adventurous.

We took a 9am flight from Birmingham airport, which was fab as you only have to be there an hour before if you check in on line. It just means all you do is go through security grab a glass of fizz and then fly to your destination.

We arrived in Paris at 11am on Saturday morning hoping for a smell of croissants and warm baguettes but unfortunately it was still as we remembered. A little stinky, and not in the good old cheese kinda way. Not detoured by this we hopped onto the train and made our way to the hotel. It's so easy to get around most city's. If you can navigate your way around London & read a map you'll be fine in most.

We arrived at the hotel around 12.45pm and dropped off the bags. There's no time like the present so we grabbed the camera and headed off to try some French foods. I've still not tried snails or frogs legs, I don't recall seeing any on the menu's actually.

We strolled through the Parisian streets trying not to get run over at every crossing.. Unlike England, they don't have to stop when the lights are on red but most are polite and will screech to a halt about an inch before your legs.

As we were wandering we came across a little restaurant called Loup. Loup served burgers, so there was really no debate, we headed in.

Lunch was amazing, but not wanting to order the same things I went for the BLT and Tom had the juicy burger with molten cheese, thick chips and it was all washed away with cocktails.

Followed by a little dessert, which I didn't want .... until it arrived.

A warm chocolate fondant with a river of dark, rich chocolate ice cream on top.

After lunch we strolled down the river to the Notre Dame.

One of the most beautfiul places I've ever seen, although no huntchback in sight!

We sat for a little while listening to a Parisian singer and toasting in the sun.. until the wall got a little too crowded and we headed off again.

We did stumble upon the Locks of Love bridge and the hubby suggested we get a lock, unfortunately there wash not an inch to squeeze one in. No bother though, our love is everlasting with or without a lock.

We finished our first evening absolutely shattered and dragging feet. Cold and tired we headed back to the hotel.
On the way back we passed a Domino's so we grabbed a large pizza snuggled up under the thick white quilts and managed to find an English film on the tv. Perfect end to a lovely day.

Merci until tomorrow...
