These are one of the first designs I ever learnt to do when I was at college. Nail art always used to panic me.. it looks so hard!! But when you realise how to do it, it's not too bad to master!! So I thought id start doing the odd tutorial, just so you can see how simple some designs are to do.
1. Always use a good base coat. Ive usee the OPI Original nail envy for years now, it's amazing. This keeps my nails strong & stops any discolouration from the polishes.
2. Apply two coats of polish (I really don't need to be explaining these steps.. I hope!).
3. I always like to get something like a sandwich box lid to put the varnish on, its so much easier to work with than keep taking the lid off the bottle. Put a couple of blobs of the colours you are using on the lid. I went with Bio Sculpture Ipanema Sunset (173 if you have gels), OPI Snow Bunny & Rimmel 60 seconds, Round & round in circles. To do the flowers I use a dotting tool which you can fond on Ebay, they're around £2. You can also use a cocktail stick or the pointy end of an orange wood stick, or Topshop sell nail art pens.
4. Once your polish I dry, I find it best to start with the centre of the flowers, put those in places you want them, remeber to leave enough gap from the free edge and the walls so that you can put the petals around, don't worry if you don't think you've put enough in, theres always time to pop some on at the end.
5. I like to start at 12 'o' clock put the first petal there. Then I put two either side parallel with each other.
6. I follow this until ive done all my flowers. Once you've got to the 10th the 1st shpuld be dry, most dotting tools have a large and a small ball, I use the large for the petals then go to the small and do a tiny dot inside the petal of the same colour on your nails. I think this just enhances the flowers.
And wallah.. you have (should have!!) professional looking flowers.. I am a Beauty Therapist by trade & still find it super hard to do my right hand!.. so domt worry if they don't all look exactly the same.
Next week are a couple of Easter designs I've been practising.
