Home tanning

So this can totally go one of two ways.. amazingly, feeling skinnier, looking like you've been on a beach in the south pacific for a few weeks or... like you work for Willie Wonka.
So in a bid to to avoid sun beds and only really naturally tan when I go away on holiday as no one wants dry skin & wrinkles... or worse! I false tan. More so in the summer than any other time. I am relatively lucky having olive skin but when I go to my palest everyone asks 'Are you OK? Your looking peeky!' So to avoid those comments I grab at the tan, you have to be really careful not to overdo it though so here's a little run through of what you can do to avoid looking like you've showered in muck!

Tips for at home tanning:

+Exfoliate/shower/shave/loofah/body brush/moisture at least 12 hours before.

+Use gloves or barrier cream on the palm of your hands and I like to put a little on the soles of my feet & heels. No gawd awful tan stuck in drier places.

+Leave your tan on as long as possible before showering.  I usually do it an hour or so before bed, the day before I change my sheets!!

+Don't wear white, holy moley is it hard getting tan out of white clothing!

+If the dreaded does happen and you get it streaking or on your hands/feet, lemon juice works a treat at helping remove the unsightly stained skin!

+Finally use a good tanning product. Fake bake, St Tropez & Xen tan are my usual suspects.

Talking of good tanning products I recently found this among the isles of Boots. I do love a good body moisturiser but combining that with a gradual tan? Hell yeah!! I've got a little post waiting in the wings about that!!.
