La Trattoriola di Luca ...

This slice of Italian heaven wasn't just stumbled upon by us unfortunately. We were recommended by a lovely man called Vincenzo, and by recommended I mean told we must go here before we leave Rome...
So we grabbed a taxi and headed straight over to La Trattoriola di Luca

As were handed the menu we seemed to just glance and smile at each other before the manager offered to translate and give us some recommendations.... Phew!

We decided to start with Prosecco, obviously!

And it was this gorgeous fella I got to spend another wonderful evening with.

It wasn't long before my attention was quickly diverted though..

Artichoke with a great big lump of Ricotta cheese... this was incredible. It doesn't look like much but the flavours just blended so well.

This was cod with a pickled cabbage. it was all prepared and cooked freshly ready to serve and wow, you can't half tell!!

For the main course.. another ricotta course for me. This time with spinach, in a ravioli and tomato sauce and Tom had a pork Ragu with pasta. All the meat in his dish was left on the bone and slowly cooked so the flavours were amazing.

If you are staying in Rome I couldn't recommend this enough. It was about a 20 minute taxi from the Trevi fountain which cost us all of 11 euros! On the plus side it's not a tourist attraction like most of Rome. Only the locals tend to go, but if you want authentic Italian.. It's a must!!
