Alarms set for 3 am Sunday morning, I jumped out of bed with excitement... we were going on holiday!
We gathered our cases, threw them into the back of the car and raced off to Gatwick Airport.
Italy has got to be our favourite country to visit. The people are so happy and friendly, and the food.. well.. you'll never have a better bolognese!!
So to tick another Italian visit off our list we decided to go to Rome. We found great flight prices with Easy jet and a great deal for the hotel through booking.com that we just couldn't say no too.
We stayed at the very plush Boscolo Exedra Rome, as we pulled up outside it was phenomenal.
After checking out the hotel, we wanted to see what Rome had to offer. Well, shall we say what the restaurants served. With our bellies running on empty we headed to a more central part, which to our surprise was only a ten minute walk down these beautiful lanes.
I wanted the most simple dish on the menu, spaghetti, olives, basil, tomatoes and a great big spoon full of parmesan.
I settled for Nutella and Caramel with a mini cone on top... we had such a fantastic first day just wandering around but tomorrow I'll show you all the main attractions...

Luxurious white and ivory floor to ceiling with bunch upon bunch of roses covered the ground floor. Marble floors and 6ft chandeliers...
We dropped our bags in the room and headed to the roof top pool...
Meandering along the streets we came across Al Picchio. No formalities, you just take a seat and offer you wine or beer... or in my case every time we sat... a prosecco! It's much cheaper and nicer tasting than the wine too.. around 4 euro a glass.
Tartan table clothes, iron chairs and waiters grinning from ear to ear.. just like this one below!

Tom choose a pizza, but we shared it out so neither of us missed out.
Not satisfied with pizza and pasta, I headed off in search of pudding with my pudding...
Only 24 flavours to choose from...maybe a scoop of each??
